Fiscal Responsibility

Our Accomplishments

In managing the town’s finances, we have acted responsibly, leveraged grants, and sought community input and approval whenever possible to ensure ours is a shared vision for Weston. We have:

  • Lowered the mill rate to 23.81 from 32.96 while leveraging over $36 million in state and federal grants to complete needed improvements to town facilities and amenities.

  • Taken great care in building a team of talented professionals who share a passion and vision for Weston’s future and the skills and willingness to maximize the use of resources available within the Town.

  • Passed bipartisan, sensible town budgets which fully funds our schools while meeting the needs of the town at large.

Our Plan

We believe there is nothing more important to good governance than responsible management of taxpayer dollars and town resources. We will:

  • Continue to professionalize municipal departments to reduce redundancies and provide more efficient, effective public services.

  • Manage the town’s finances transparently and with public input.

  • Fulfill the administration of open grants by seeing projects to completion and opening the possibility of additional state grant opportunities for future projects.

Environment

Our Accomplishments

As leaders in Weston, we prioritized protecting our environment by placing eco-friendly policies at the center of our approach to governing. We have:

  • Moved forward the construction of a new solar farm over DPW which, when finished, will offset municipal electricity usage. Initiated the process for new solar arrays at the Transfer Station and Lachat Offut Center.

  • Installed EV charging stations outside of town hall, schools, and DPW, purchased the first electric vehicle owned by the Town of Weston and added to the Police Department’s fleet of hybrid vehicles.

  • Engaged with volunteers to pioneer a town wide composting program, diverting thousands of pounds of food waste from landfills.

Our Plan

In our next term, we plan to bring sustainable infrastructure investments and lead local environmental consciousness to promote a greener, cleaner Weston. We will:

  • Complete construction of new solar capacity at the Transfer Station and Lachat Offut Center.

  • Continued implementation of the town new sustainability plan.

  • Renovate the water supply for school and town facilities, using funds from the State Revolving Fund.
