Community

Our Accomplishments

We have helped bring Westonites together by creating public spaces to gather, hiring outstanding leadership across town services and creating opportunities to celebrate and enjoy our town. We have:

  • Placed new leadership at the Senior Center who have spearheaded more meaningful programming and integrated social services, based on strong engagement and community feedback.

  • Improved the use of Town owned property by overseeing the construction of pickleball courts and Town Green, the completion of the Weston Dog Park, Senior Center renovations and the completion of the first phase of sidewalk construction.

  • Supported the continued growth of Lachat Town Farm as a community centerpiece with the contribution of ARPA funds to carry out wetlands mitigation work and to help fund the construction of the Lachat Offut Center.

  • Created additional opportunities for our younger residents through reinvigorated Parks and Rec programs and new Weston Library initiatives for lifelong learners of every age.

Our Plan

Community matters and we will continue to build on the work of the past four years to improve the quality of life in Weston by creating thriving public spaces and community events. We will:

  • Support additional expansion of services and activities through the Senior Center and Parks and Recreation.

  • Continue to support community events including Veteran Recognition Ceremonies, Founder’s Day, Pride, and the Holiday Music Festival and Tree Lighting..

  • Focus plans around the needs of the town, based on the results of the town wide survey we are conducting in 2025.

  • Provide opportunities for smart development in the Village District, to encourage business growth and the construction of diverse housing options.

Public Safety

Our Accomplishments

The safety of our community has always been our top priority. We will continue working to ensure that Weston is a safe and welcoming place for everyone. We have:

  • Completed phase one of a safe and walkable system of sidewalks which connect our schools, churches, and town center.

  • Invested in public safety infrastructure including renovations to EMS, fire and police department facilities, an updated emergency telecommunications system and the purchase of multiple fire engines to replace our aging fleet.

  • Worked to fully staff the Weston Police Department and retain high quality, community oriented officers, including hiring five new officers and the first female officer in over two decades.

  • Undertaken one of the largest paving projects in Weston’s history, with plans to complete the rehabilitation of forty roads by the end of FY 2025 and having already completed the rehabilitation of four town bridges.

Our Plan

We will always put our neighbors first! This means prioritizing the common good to ensure our community is safe, secure, and prosperous. We will:

  • Always support our first responders by working to provide improved resources and safety infrastructure and remain aware of the changing world around us and ensure that the safety and security of all members of our community remain a top priority.

  • Complete remaining phases of our community sidewalks project, in addition to completion on the new turning lane onto School Road, improving the safety and efficiency of travel in and around town center and School Road.

  • We will remember that safety in a place like Weston also means well managed infrastructure, disaster preparedness and neighbors helping neighbors.
